It may be too late to rescue this plant, which sounds like it has suffered from lack of watering.

Sage does not need to be in a polytunnel and may have been scorched by sunshine in the hot weather.

Sage is a relatively vigorous bushy herb and makes lots of leaves, whether you pinch out or take off flowers or not, but you can do either, if you prefer a neat bushy plant.

I have a sage plant indoors. It has a white powdery deposit on the leaves but is still growing. I cannot see any insects on it. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks.

Sage is not an indoor plant in any circumstances. Put it outside and it will clear up.
I have a sage plant in a container. The top of it has lovely green leaves, however, the bottom 3/4 of the plant has black leaves and looks terrible. Can I prune the plant back to encourage fresh growth lower down or should I take some slips to start again with a new plant?
Thanks for your help,

Leave it until spring, then cut back hard and use some of the cut pieces as cuttings or take some cuttings in late summer or autumn.
