I hope you might be able to answer a question that I have. I Am attaching photos of something that has appeared all over the branches of a greenhouse Pear tree in the last week. We do have a lot of ants and woodlice in greenhouse and maybe there is a connection. Do you have any idea what these things are? peartree, Cork, Co Cork Posted: 10/04/2017

Pear trees do not need a tunnel.

The pest is horse chestnut scale, a damaging sap-sucking insect.

Spray with a suspension of 50ml of vegetable oil and 30 ml of washing up liquid in a litre of water. Or use a greenhouse insecticide until they are dead.
