Suggestions for native hedge in suburban garden

I would like to plant a hedge in my front garden which will give privacy all year round but also be edible/friendly to wildlife? ( hedge space is 20ft by 3ft) I can plant holly and ivy to keep some winter green as they grow well here. My partner is obsessed with neat hedges and wants box hedging so I would like to have a good alternative Keyra, Limerick, Co Limerick Posted: 24/04/2017

Holly is a good choice, clips well. Hawthorn too, is good for clipping, although it is deciduous. The veil of twigs offers reasonable screening. Yew is a very good hedge, native evergreen conifer, very good to clip neatly.
