Dahlias

I left dahlias in ground this winter, covered with bark. I can see they are still there but when will they start to sprout. In Mayo. Dodie, , Posted: 28/04/2017

They should be showing some signs of new growth, however small.

But it is common for slugs to eat the emerging shoots of dahlias, even below the surface, especially with a cover of bark.

Gently take back the bark layer and see if the buds are being affected and apply some pellets if necessary.
