School work

Help - my 11 year old grandson "volunteered" me to help his class in their garden. Autumn was fine we planted bulbs. Now I need ideas as to what to grow with them at this time of year, remembering they finish at the end of June so results before then are a necessity. We have a bed in a poly tunnel also a bed outdoors, any ideas would be much appreciated. PaulineP, Portroe, Co Tipperary Posted: 10/01/2018

Get a copy of Paddy Madden's excellent book: Wild at School.

You can grow vegetables such as broad beans, peas, lettuce, onions, radish and potatoes sprouted indoors. All these vegetables can be started in pots under cover and planted out later.

Plant out some carrots, onions and parsnips from the shop to see how they flower and go to seed.
