Strawberries

We had some strawberry plants out this year but none of the fruit developed. Is it possible to store them over the winter and re use them next year or would you recommend we buy new plants? We were very disappointed as there were some fruits but they neither ripened nor developed. rushemp1, Termonfeckin, Co Louth Posted: 24/07/2010

The plants must have been very weak or growing in a bad spot.

They need good well drained soil and sunshine. Plants bought in a garden centre should be okay but home raised plants can have virus disease. Greenfly should be controlled if seen.

Plants normally last three years but if there was something wrong, you should buy new plants and plant right away.
