Planting apple tree and cherry tree

The above trees have spent 2 to 3 years in pots in my garden. I would like to plant them in the garden now. Is it ok to do this now ( January )? What special care should I take ? Patm, Dublin, Co Dublin Posted: 09/01/2012

it is fine to plant fruit trees in late winter. If you go to our How to pages and check out the needs of apples first. http://www.garden.ie/howtogrow.aspx?id=357

Make sure to plant in a sunny, well-drained good soil and do not plant too deeply ... only to the level of the top of the root ball and watch for signs of drought in the first summer.
