If north-facing means no sunlight at all during the whole day, the results from vegetables and fruit will not be as good. There will still be results, just not as good as if there was some sunshine.
Raspberries, alpine strawberries, logan berries, gooseberries and currants tend to do okay in such places. Apples will get by.
In general leafy vegetables, such as lettuce, spinach, chard, leek, kale and cabbage will quite well. Rhubarb does okay but gets very weak after a few years.
The root vegetables like a bit more light and the fruit vegetables such as tomatoes and sweetcorn need lots of sunshine.
