Kill weeds prior to sowing vegetables?

I have just bought Gallup Blograde 360 which I am going to use to kill off all the grass and weeds that have grown on my vegetable patch over the winter. I am not sure that I have bought the correct product and if so I can always return it to the shop and exchange it for something else. I intend to kill the weeds and then rotovate the ground before starting to plant my vegetables for this year. How long would I need to leave it after spraying and before I rotovate it. Also how long after spraying do I leave it before planting vegetables. I would appreciate it if you could let me know if I have bought the correct product as I am wondering if The Irish Organic Weedkiller would be better. I do not want to do anything that will affect my vegetables later in the season. Thanks Solilly, Galway, Co Galway Posted: 19/02/2012

Gallup Bio 360 is perfectly good for the purpose for which it is required. It is based on glyphosate, which is absorbed on contact with soil and rapidly broken down.

It is translocated only through plant tissue and not transported in soil or retained in active form in soil.

So it is necessary to wait only a few days or a week, say, to be absorbed by weeds before rotovating and seeds can be sown right away, or as required, as it is not carried in soil. it is usually best to wait a few weeks to give weeds a chance to break down, so that they do not get in the way of raking.

Even if weeds still appear green when chopped up by the rotovator, they will continue to die whether buried or not as the chemical remains active in plant tissue.

It is essential to apply the product exactly as directed on the label.
