Cats & weigela

I have a numer of weigela plants. They are in flower at the moment, but the cats are eating the flowers. Why do they do this and is it normal? Kilkenny Cat, , Posted: 05/06/2012

Apparently cats, and dogs too, may eat bits of plants for reasons of digestion, or perhaps out of curiosity or boredom. Cats also scratch the bark of trees and shrubs to clean their claws.

The damage to flowers is usually slight, though they may flatten catmint.
