A nice day for the plant fair. We go most years, but had family staying this weekend. The Purple Palace is going to be fitted out with some style. You will be taking afternoon tea there next week. Love the cup and saucer container. Have fun.

Yellow leaves and falling

20 April 2017 21:26:01

Evening all, i have a solanum crispum " Glasnevin" and i have it tied up as its branches are not sturdy enough and some of the branches arethrough branches of one of the tree stums, i noticed today that some of its leaves are yelowing and falling off, anyone any ideas why this is happeneing?

Gracedieu Lass Gracedieu Lass 20 April 2017 22:29:53

Solanum needs the support of a wall to grow on. Maybe it is blowing around and causing damage to the roots or maybe it is too dry where you have it planted. It likes a moist well drained soil. It is a nice plant and it would be a pity to loose it.

Jackie Jackie 20 April 2017 22:36:02

I have one here which is about 3 years old and it's extremely sturdy. So much so that I'm chopping bits off it all the time. Otherwise it would take over. I think it might be too dry as Mary says. I've never had a problem with yellowing of the leaves. Hope you get it sorted as it's a terrific shrub!

Jacky Quirke Jacky Quirke 21 April 2017 08:06:21

Thank you ladies, i have no wall where it is but training it around one of the stumps, ill give it a good watering see how it goes, as i do love it

I am super happy with it, sturdy and bright. The treated green timber will be painted the same as the doors over the coming week, weather permitting. Hope ye all like as much as i do, wishing you all a wonderful Easter & Enjoy

Jacinta D Jacinta D 16 April 2017 06:41:03

Dick Dick 16 April 2017 11:28:19

It looks good Jacky. The green colour looks good and if you wish to paint as you said, then paint it green and it will remain a green house. Happy Easter to you.

TheH (Hazel) TheH (Hazel) 17 April 2017 09:34:58

Well done to all! When you posted about all those doors I couldn't have visualised anything a amazing as that! You should make sure to put power in it so that cups of tea can be made there!
