200420091's Garden

We live in a coatel area of Wexford,  about 15 minutes from the beach. Our garden is roughly a half acre site. The site is very exposed and as a result, has been very difficult to develop. To add to our troubles the sand is poor and sandy.

Our front garden is a rather difficult two tier shape because it drops about 2.5 metres from the road.  Running Parallel to the road, we planted Silver Birch Trees about 10 years ago but to my disapointment and a great deal of hard work they have gradually died off and now with only three remaining, new trees will have to be planted that are capable of sustaining the hammering they get from the high winds.

The rear garden is also tiered with a slope leading down from a paved & gravelled area surrounding house to a large lawned area.

Anything I know about gardening has been leant by trial and error (more error) over the last 10 years. To be honest I'm very happy with my garden.  I get great pleasure watching it mature and new ideas and challenges are always presenting themselves.
