Tulip addiction

11 November 2017 17:37:13

Me too - have just potted up the last of my tulip bulbs bought last week.  Come Spring I'm always pleased that I took time out to do this early winter job!!!!!    I noticed today that my hardy cyclamens are in flower in some parts of the garden.   Miserable drizzly day here in Westport

Jacinta D Jacinta D 11 November 2017 18:16:53

It's great to be with so many like-minded people.

Miserable here too, and I'm choking with a headcold.

Gracedieu Lass Gracedieu Lass 11 November 2017 23:30:06

Sally, I have to confess that I bought five packets of tulips and a packet of crocus today. I do blame it on the miserable weather.

Jacinta, I hope you get better soon. We both had colds for the last two weeks, which I think was as a result of the electricity being cut off for so long after the storm.

TerriShoos TerriShoos 12 November 2017 15:16:14

I was really glad to have potting up tulips as my excuse for leaving off shifting barrowloads of earth for the odd day! Hope the cold is better soon. Hot lemon and honey and the odd toddy is yer ony man...

It's a park's life

16 September 2017 09:22:24

didn't realise that this prog is on every WEDNESDAY RTE for about 6 weeks.  PHoenix Park is tHe subject.  Will catch the last two episodes on the Internet.  Just heard abt this on gdn prog with Mid-West radio.

Gracedieu Lass Gracedieu Lass 16 September 2017 17:28:35

Thanks Sally, I did not hear about this programme. I know RTE did a programme about the Zoo. Must have a look this Wednesday and try and catch up with the other two.

TheH (Hazel) TheH (Hazel) 16 September 2017 23:58:38

Had a look on YouTube - only the Promo is there.

Two episodes on RTE Player.

Thanks Sally for the information. Never heard a word about it! not wonder RTE don't think programs on nature and gardens are profitable if they don't let people know when they are on!

sallysarah sallysarah 17 September 2017 05:59:32

Have just read up about it.  sounds interesting - not all about gardening but about anything and anyone connected to Phoenix Park.

Elizabeth7 Elizabeth7 17 September 2017 10:41:44

Yes i have seen both episodes and find it very interesting well worth watching

Scrubber Scrubber 17 September 2017 15:26:56

Many thanks Sally. It sounds very interesting and I hadnt noticed it.

TerriShoos TerriShoos 18 September 2017 11:20:15

I wanted to record it but it clashed with two other programmes so couldn't. And I never get round to RTYE Player. Oh well when the repeats are on...

Before and after buy

31 August 2017 07:35:37

I spotted this neglected container at a Saturday bazaar I went to.  I could see the potential in this heavy terracotta container and got it for 4 euros.  Repotted it with Semperverens and gave the Aleos new homes which I will take to my gardening club.  I think they are Aleos!!!!

took these photos before advice from Peter..............

Jacinta D Jacinta D 31 August 2017 12:11:07

Lovely. Succulents are ideal for containers.

TheH (Hazel) TheH (Hazel) 31 August 2017 18:58:48

TerriShoos TerriShoos 01 September 2017 08:43:44

Testing photo taking!

15 August 2017 06:53:15

have had this old log for quite some years and really just had stones on it.  Tidying up shed I found two flat back baskets and a down lighter shade.  planted up with what I had left in greenhouse.  Peter put in screws to take planters.   Just took photo to test if I can get it right way up when posting!!!

Dick Dick 15 August 2017 11:30:35

Lovely job, Sally with good assistance from Peter. You seem to have the system with the i Pad rectified.

PCON PCON 15 August 2017 14:40:20

A great use for an old log, Sally. Looks very well. Hope I won't see them lying down any more. If you want vertical pictures, you can still take them in landscape, and crop them later, using the iPad software

MargieD MargieD 15 August 2017 19:37:12

Great way to use the log!

Looks lovely, a relaxing spot. Enjoy

A charity shop buy

14 August 2017 07:09:46

Jacinta D Jacinta D 14 August 2017 07:42:45

Wow! What a bargain.

sallysarah sallysarah 14 August 2017 07:49:57

It was indeed a bargain, Jacinta.  Slats were missing and it needed a paint.  photos never right way up.  My daughter bought me an I-pad but cannot work out phototaking position!!!!!

Jacinta D Jacinta D 14 August 2017 07:53:28

We all hope the new site will be a big improvement. So stick with it for now.
