Happy New Year to all.

I have nothing to report on the gardening front.

I was hoping to kick start the gardening year with the  Johnstown get together but unfortunately I won't be able to go.

Wishing that you all  have great day and that the weather will be kind to those travelling from afar.

The forecast for tomorrow in not good, but I am sure we will enjoy ourselves. It is a pity you can't make it, but there is always next year.

Jackie Jackie 12 January 2018 19:55:35

Many Happy Returns to you......its a pity you cant make it. Yes the weather looks dreadful but thankfully a lot is happening inside so we will be fine!! Maybe we might catch up during the year!

Pick of the day

30 October 2017 14:36:46

The garden has gone a bit down hill recently because I am a summer weather gardener. Thankfully the dahlias and little chrysanthemums look after themselves. I am still picking loads of little cherry tomatoes that are growing in pots outdoors.

I thought I was sowing medium height Cosmos but they turned out to be over a metre tall. The storms flattened them but but they are still flowering away.

I cut  this bunch for the house earlier today.

Gracedieu Lass Gracedieu Lass 30 October 2017 17:35:40

Beautiful bouquet, Michele. My poor dahlias were shredded during the storms.

The Cosmos are great value Michelle . They really outlive so many others this time of year . Frost forecast so that will put an end to the summer gardening alright

Jacinta D Jacinta D 30 October 2017 21:03:33

That's a gorgeous heart-warming bouquet.

Jackie Jackie 31 October 2017 06:29:36

Beautiful bouque. You really can’t beat Cosmos

Scrubber Scrubber 01 November 2017 21:08:00

I like the way they complement the brass container. Real heartwarming colour.

Between the downpours

09 September 2017 18:08:19

Between the downpours I took a quick trip into the garden this afternoon.  These anemones were  standing up well with no staking. They have been blooming beautifully for ages too.

fraoch fraoch 09 September 2017 18:26:30

Great to have something that withstands the weather!

Jacinta D Jacinta D 09 September 2017 20:50:24

Great little 'doers' in the autumn garden.

PeterW PeterW 09 September 2017 21:59:07

A great display

Moya Moya 10 September 2017 22:57:49

They look brilliant! Which ones are they?

Gracedieu Lass Gracedieu Lass 11 September 2017 14:17:33

I would hate to be without them at this time of year.

Michele Maria Michele Maria 11 September 2017 16:32:01

Moya.. I call them The Pink Ones... really I haven't a clue because I bought them nameless in a  plant sale years ago. i  must buy the White Ones sometime!

Scrubber Scrubber 11 September 2017 19:11:37

I think the white are Honorine de Joubert but im open to contradiction. These look to be quite a deep pink.Yes those downpours were that!

Moya Moya 11 September 2017 22:24:22

Love all Japanese anemones and haven't got enough. They look lovely - a darker pink than the usual kind.

TheH (Hazel) TheH (Hazel) 14 September 2017 21:34:37

Michele Maria - it you want some of the white ones I have lots - so maybe if we meet at Johnstown?

Michele Maria Michele Maria 30 October 2017 14:13:31

I just saw your reply to my post Hazel.  Yes I would love  a white Anemone at Johnstown. Thank you for the kind offer. it is hard to believe it is nearly that time of year again!

These are looking good in the garden at the moment. Sadly the rose has a lot of black spot but you don't see that when  in a vase.

Jacinta D Jacinta D 26 August 2017 13:28:35

Very pretty.

TheH (Hazel) TheH (Hazel) 26 August 2017 15:18:29

Have to say I am training my eyes to focus on the flowers instead of the blackspot! It works a treat!

JoanG JoanG 26 August 2017 17:06:16

Very pretty arrangement Michele. I do as Hazel does!

lovely simple yet beautiful arrangement

View from the kitchen sink.

Clematis Polish Spirit is doing very well this year. It's in a trough and I can see it through the  kitchen window when I am at the sink!  I took the good advice of another contributer to this site... prune in March ,feed well and control slugs.

Gracedieu Lass Gracedieu Lass 16 August 2017 14:10:33

The feeding it paying off, looks fantastic and a lovely sight from your kitchen sink.

fraoch fraoch 16 August 2017 18:11:17

Lovely colour.

Jackie Jackie 16 August 2017 19:07:30

Now that is looking fantastic!! and what a view. Do you keep it in a planter all the time? Im thinking of putting a few of mine in planters to see if they will be any better at performing!

JoanG JoanG 16 August 2017 21:17:20

I'd be tempted to spend more time at my kitchen sink if I had that to look out at. Lovely plant and you have it in great shape Michele.

Michele Maria Michele Maria 19 August 2017 10:12:27

Thanks all. Yes Jackie, it's in a planter about 60x30x30 cm all the time -  5th year now I think. Another one, The President, has done well for years  in a big pot at the front door. It got mildew last year and this year though. More TLC needed I guess.

Jackie Jackie 19 August 2017 11:26:20

Great thanks Michele. I'll definitely be trying that for next year.
