BrunoCork's Garden

I began this garden from scratch in May '10. The picture on the right was taken two months later. Not bad going, eh?

My garden experienced a min of -7C during the 2010/11 winter which is very low for here. I lost a lot of plants so my garden will look very different this year. Lets hope we go back to having the mild winters we had gotten so used to.

The Green Ribbon Garden

25 April 2016 20:25:50

Hi all, at the Christmas get-together lots of you donated plants for the mental health themed community garden I'm involved in through work. I thought you might like to see its progress. (Bear in mind this was a derelict site full of rubble and litter up until we started clearing it last year.)

A big thank you again to all those who donated plants.

I'll post more photos when it's complete.

You're invited... - Shine

Bruno, that looks just fantastic already. You've done a terrific job. Where is it by the way?

BrunoCork BrunoCork 25 April 2016 20:37:26

Thanks Heather. It's on Kyle Street which is the small street that connects Cornmarket Street and North Main Street (between Peggy Twomey's and the Bridewell). It's street-side, so passersby can see it.

fraoch fraoch 25 April 2016 21:31:43

I must take a wander down that way some day. Thanks for explaining where Kyle St is.

JoanG JoanG 25 April 2016 21:36:11

Well done to everyone involved. Must have a look the next time I am in Cork. Bruno, you should have included a visit on the AGM weekend.

Myrtle Myrtle 26 April 2016 17:56:54

Test

02 April 2016 21:29:46

Just a test

(Garden.ie not working properly for me today. Photos not loading, pages not loading, etc.)

PeterW PeterW 02 April 2016 21:42:33

It has been like this the last few days, i ahev had the page not loading or photos not uploading. Nice photo by the way

Jacinta D Jacinta D 02 April 2016 22:04:46

Today was the first day I've had a problem. But I reloaded later and it worked.

Jackie Jackie 03 April 2016 10:05:23

Nice picture. I couldn't upload an album a few days back and gave up. Just try later.

Gerry Daly Gerry Daly 05 April 2016 17:24:33

Yes, apologies ... there were outages/delays as Garden.ie was moved to a new server!

Nothing else to say other than I'm sure I'll have a wonderful moss garden if this wet weather continues.

Edit: Sorry...photos aren't loading for some reason.

Jacinta D Jacinta D 02 April 2016 08:51:08

LOL

Yea, a bummer when they don't load. Still not loading.

Gracedieu Lass Gracedieu Lass 02 April 2016 11:02:48

Pouring down here.

Jacinta D Jacinta D 02 April 2016 11:04:34

:(  It'd put years on you!

JanetS JanetS 02 April 2016 13:08:50

It is miserable weather. The only consolation for me is that the huge water tank I have just had installed is filling with water from the roof, and the clematis montana I have grown to cover it has already started to spread along its wire cage. I am just hoping that it will still look like a gorilla, as in Helen Dillon's saying, "A gorilla with lipstick is still a gorilla!".

Myrtle Myrtle 02 April 2016 20:44:20

Dont let this photo business deter you from staying on the site, Bruno!

PeterW PeterW 02 April 2016 21:57:51

absolutely rotten, hoping we get a proper break from it soon.

Jackie Jackie 03 April 2016 10:12:37

It can only get better though!!

I've still got it!

01 April 2016 18:43:47

..a love of invasive weeds, that is!

Sometimes I get bored of the jungly giants...

...and the tiny weeds win my attention.

Still avoiding college work but there's always the morning.

Jacinta D Jacinta D 01 April 2016 19:09:23

You can't beat a few invasive weeds just for a bit of variety.

Jeepers, Bruno. Two posts in two days!!!  You're on a roll. LOL

BrunoCork BrunoCork 01 April 2016 19:21:27

Haha...I'm trying.

Jackie Jackie 01 April 2016 19:47:15

Before I opened the journal and saw the title I was sure it was something to do with April Fools, as in that those hailstones were a joke lol, more fool me!

Ah some weeds do look good though dont they!

fran m fran m 01 April 2016 19:48:11

Excuses Excuses Excuses!!

;)

JoanG JoanG 01 April 2016 22:22:58

Well, they do look nice Bruno, though how you control oxalis is beyond me!

BrunoCork BrunoCork 02 April 2016 07:55:39

Joan, I used to use Purple woodsorrel as a ground cover here but it has almost completely died out due to how wet the garden has been the last few years. It has been replaced by moss, which has its own charm as a ground cover.

Elizabeth7 Elizabeth7 02 April 2016 14:06:21

Ah Bruno you always had it!

Myrtle Myrtle 02 April 2016 20:30:41

:)

No better way to procrastinate!

30 March 2016 19:52:02

I'm meant to be doing college assignments, but with the brighter evenings who could blame me for wanting to be out strolling in the garden.

Jacinta D Jacinta D 30 March 2016 20:23:54

Two beautiful Euphorbias, Bruno. Good to hear from you again. I'm sure you are well ahead with your college assignments.

PeterW PeterW 30 March 2016 20:35:01

Gorgeous planst there, the flowers on the Euphorbia Mellifera look fantastic.

JoanG JoanG 30 March 2016 21:02:43

So true Bruno, though I hope you won't be burning the midnight oil to get the college work finished!  Lovely photos.

fran m fran m 31 March 2016 07:07:44

Hmmmmmmm ;)

BrunoCork BrunoCork 31 March 2016 07:39:05

Thanks everyone!

Jacinta, I might not post here very often, but it's an improvement on last year ;-)

Peter, you have mellifera too, don't you?

Joan, I'm more of an early morning person lol

LOL@Fran

LindaB LindaB 31 March 2016 10:26:18

Nice photos Bruno, really like the seedling!

Keego Keego 31 March 2016 13:35:54

Lovely plants Bruno I got the Wallichii as a stray in a pot from Jimi's when we were doing the course I love it I like the flowers on the mellifera now back to your assignments!!

PeterW PeterW 31 March 2016 16:37:45

Yup I do indeed but a very small plant grown from seed and no flowers yet.

fraoch fraoch 31 March 2016 19:45:37

Lovely photos,Bruno, what are you studying in college?

Myrtle Myrtle 31 March 2016 20:42:18

Im sure you will be as successful at the study as you hsve been at the gardening!

BrunoCork BrunoCork 31 March 2016 21:00:58

Thanks all. :-)

Heather, I'm afraid it's nothing gardening related. It's a QQI Level 6 in Supervisory Management. Thought it would be good to have something like that on my CV. Makeing myself sit down and do the assignments is such a challenge.

TheH (Hazel) TheH (Hazel) 01 April 2016 08:53:13

Don't be so hard on yourself! That's not procrastination - that's R & R :-)

fraoch fraoch 02 April 2016 20:30:01

Good luck with that!
