BrunoCork's Garden

I began this garden from scratch in May '10. The picture on the right was taken two months later. Not bad going, eh?

My garden experienced a min of -7C during the 2010/11 winter which is very low for here. I lost a lot of plants so my garden will look very different this year. Lets hope we go back to having the mild winters we had gotten so used to.

Peter, the Lily is yours :-) I was just thinking, was last year's Blarney visit your first Garden.ie event?

lol You're in demand Hazel. Sorry you can't make it but enjoy your day whatever you do.

Thanks Myrtle and Fran. (I've got plants for both of you I must get to you somehow.)

Joann Joann 16 May 2013 23:29:12

Hi Bruno, I would take a crocosmia or lily if they going begging.

Ya you are right, peter was just a novice last year, look at him now with his lovely garden, we trained him well........

Elizabeth good luck with the recovery, you should rest your eye and stay out of the breeze on Sat, there will be loads of other garden visits for you. My ma in law got a cataract done 2 weeks ago, great now but was sore and delicate for a few days after.

TerriShoos TerriShoos 17 May 2013 08:45:21

Blarney Meet this Saturday! :-)))

Blarney Meet this Saturday! :-)))

Hi everyone, I've been very quiet on here lately. Spreading myself a bit too thinly as usual and doing work on my garden in between. But...

..I'm really looking forward to catching up with those who are coming to Blarney on Saturday. It's been a while since I was there and I can't wait to see all the new additions and changes, as well as all the plants that will be in bloom this time of year.

We're very lucky in that our own garden.ie member Blarney Castle, AKA head gardener Adam Whitbourn, will be giving us the tour.  The weather is forecast to be nice, but with the the weather being so mixed lately, it'd be best to bring a brolly just in case.

Bruno, your roots are showing - nobody in Ireland EVER goes anywhere without a brolly!  I had loads of swapsies but the weather has seen many of them off so will just bring what I have.

Jacinta Jacinta 14 May 2013 06:18:22

Arrrrgh, I'm working. I thought it was last weekend gone. Enjoy it, everyone.

Jackie Jackie 14 May 2013 07:05:52

JoanG JoanG 14 May 2013 19:51:47

Bruno, I'm sorry but I won't be going on Saturday.  Have sent you a friend request and will send you a PM when you ok it.   Hope you all have a great visit and I'll make it with luck next year.

kindredspirit kindredspirit 14 May 2013 20:56:34

I'll be there. (Causing mayhem as usual!)

Periwinkle Periwinkle 14 May 2013 21:23:18

Wish I could go! I'm sure it will be a great day, whatever the weather!

ladygardener ladygardener 14 May 2013 22:02:12

I'm sorry that I won't be able to make it, I'd love to see Blarney gardens and everyone

PaulyG PaulyG 14 May 2013 22:32:28

Really looking forward to it and thanks Bruno for organising everything. I have 12 Sedum "Autumn Joy" to offer which all came from a plant I split into 4 late last year. It produces a carpet of flowers which the bees get "drunk" on and is super easy to propagate from, the mother plant was about 2 foot high and wide so it's a nice and useful plant to have in the garden.

See y'all there!!

Keego Keego 15 May 2013 00:05:31

Have a great day everyone Wish I was going

kindredspirit kindredspirit 15 May 2013 07:00:29

If anyone wants Agaves, I can bring some. Also Cortaderia Richardii & Ajuga Evening Glow, if anyone wants those. Fuschias as well. Bamboo also. Let me know, 'cos I've only a very little car. (MX5)

If anyone's got choice alpines, I'd be interested. Or anything tropical.

BrunoCork BrunoCork 15 May 2013 07:39:32

Joan, I've just accepted your friend request. To those who can't make it, please don't feel bad about it. C'est la vie.

Didn't get around to posting my swap list yet, but should be able to this eve.

Kindred, which bamboo are you offereing? I might be interested :-)

PaulyG PaulyG 15 May 2013 08:37:15

I could make a nice focal point in the front lawns with the cortaderia, but I would need two (one for each side). Can I be so bold as to ask?

PaulyG PaulyG 15 May 2013 14:12:21

for one to split onto two?

Joann Joann 15 May 2013 16:04:07

Hi all, looking forward to it, my computer is out of action at the moment so had to drive to Adare library to check and see that blarney was still going ahead!!!

I will try to get online again in a day or two to put up list (small) of what I will have for plant swops, if I dont get a chance will bring them anyway, I'm sure they will all get homes on the day........

see you soon

p.s. Kindred spirit I will swop you a castor oil plant (Ricinus communis) for fuschia and/or a bamboo if you like

kindredspirit kindredspirit 15 May 2013 18:26:03

Bruno. Common old garden variety, Pseudosasa Japonica. Beautiful large leaves. Needs a barrier.

Paul. I'll have 2 in the car for you. They're quite small. Grown from seed last year.

Joan. I'll bring Fuschia and Bamboo for you. That Castor Oil Plant will hardly survive the winter, will it? I'll have a bash at it anyway.

PaulyG PaulyG 15 May 2013 19:02:05

Thanks, you are indeed a kindred spirit, small is good - that's where most of my plants are right now, it's very early days in my garden.

kindredspirit kindredspirit 19 May 2013 07:27:43

PaulyG, still have your Cortaderia Richardii, if you're ever in my area.

Same to Joann, I gave the ones I brought to Blarney for you, away but I have more here for you.
