Looking at the world through Rose Tinted Glasses

Looking at the world through Rose Tinted Glasses

This is planted in my WHITE bed. I was delighted when I got it. Rosa Iceberg.  Had wanted it for ages. It is blooming now and is a beautiful rose, However either I am looking at it with rose tinted glasses or somebody got their labels mixed up because from my perpspective it definitely looks pink - So no idea what it is :-(

kitty kitty 29 June 2012 16:00:15

Hoeys Hoeys 29 June 2012 16:38:40

Philadelphus Coronarius - Mock Orange

Philadelphus Coronarius - Mock Orange

Early spring 2011 I planted a tiny little  Philadelphus Coronarius in the main bed in the middle of the back garden. It did nothing!!!! I thought it was dead. It is in the middle of the bed as I was hoping it would grow to a decent size- ha! When my sister was up we went looking for it as I wanted her to see if it was worth keeping - we couldn;t even find it amongst the masses of other stuff coming up BUT look what I discovered yesterday!!!!                                                                                                                                                                  The plant itself is only about 1ft high and 6" of it is covered in flowers.

We had a huge one in the front garden of the house I grew up in "Borodale". I was just mad about it. Everytime I smell it- It just brings me right back. Happy times :-)

I am just DELIGHTED!!!

Hoeys Hoeys 19 June 2012 12:44:49

TerriShoos TerriShoos 20 June 2012 15:01:27

Another one for my list - it's so satisfying when plants pop up unexpectedly. Lovely photo.

Cant find the name.....

Cant find the name.....

This has just started to bloom in the garden. It is such a pretty flower. I can't find the name. It is beside me everytime I get out of my car and is bugging the life out of me - So if you know please tell :-)

LindaB LindaB 13 June 2012 10:46:23

mmmmmmm?

Keego Keego 13 June 2012 11:22:04

Monica wild guess could it be a Gaura of some kind - the flowers look similiar to one I have

Hoeys Hoeys 13 June 2012 13:14:46

its nice...

Hosta Hosta 13 June 2012 13:53:10

I'd agree with Mary

Periwinkle Periwinkle 13 June 2012 21:38:46

Are gaura not later flowering? Would it be Gillenia trifoliate?

Speaking of Weigela...

Speaking of Weigela...

Speaking of Weigela...

as per the cover story in The Irish Garden. This is just a tiny bit of mine. It is 5ft of colour with masses of flowers. I am delighted with it!! The few days of heat that we have had has made things jump out of the ground :-)  Just hope we don't regress now!!

By the way, I got an email this morning from Nissan Leaf to say I had won 4 tickets to Bloom. Don't know yet if they are date specified. Hope not, because I want to go on Saturday. The only down side is that I booked 4 tickets online on Sunday night :-(

Mary Mary Mary Mary 30 May 2012 00:01:14

Pity about the tickets but the weigela is fab!

Btw, do you pronounce it way-jella or wee-jella, I never seem to know??

Clara Clara 30 May 2012 00:05:11

A beauty and well done on the tickets enjoy the days or day !

andyf7 andyf7 30 May 2012 00:13:39

they are just fantastic and your right the heat over the last week has bosted the plants no end, and us too, typical of lifes little test sometimes, ticket wise.

Noelfitz Noelfitz 30 May 2012 00:32:42

Brilliant photo.

I agree with Andy, MM and Clara - fantastic and a beauty.

As for pronunciation, eether, either or ayther  will do.

Jacinta Jacinta 30 May 2012 07:01:03

:) Bummer about the online tickets.

I pronounce it WYJEELA.

LindaB LindaB 30 May 2012 08:11:16

Stunning photo

ladygardener ladygardener 30 May 2012 08:18:35

Lucky you, but pity about the on-line ones.  Hopefully you can sell them on, or else take a gang with you.

Myrtle Myrtle 30 May 2012 16:20:48

Beautiful pink against the dark leaves.

And here is the Cherry on top!!!

13 May 2012 10:33:59
Real Cherries - in Kells!!!

Real Cherries - in Kells!!!

I couldn't believe my eyes when I say fruit developing on my Cherry Tree. I thought it would be way too cold for that!!!!

So now I have my cake with a Cherry on top!!! Couldn't be happier :-)

Scrubber Scrubber 13 May 2012 12:21:45

Now my generation are familiar with the 'Surrey with the fringe on top' but the weddingcake with a cherry on top is a new one. isnt it lovely though monica that little things (in the eyes of others) can give so much joy! At present Scrubber is highly enthused at a rock that just finished a low wall perfectly! May you always have such joys!!!

Monkells Monkells 13 May 2012 12:41:42

Nobody else (apart from us gardeners) get it Scrubber!!!

sallysarah sallysarah 13 May 2012 14:47:43

Today must just be the 'cherry on top' day.  I know your joy Monkells and Scrubber - I've just seen all my cornflowers and californian poppies germinate in old peat pots I rescued from shed - now if I could just get this new photo album system sorted................................

Myrtle Myrtle 13 May 2012 16:43:35

Its great how happiness is so infectious!

andyf7 andyf7 13 May 2012 21:04:58
