Not a good one as I am unable to get the better one to load. Worth a try! The plants I saw were only about 12 inches tall; the garden is quite new so maybe they will grow much larger just don't know.

I think it might be Pachysandra terminalis, common name Japanese Spurge and it has white flowers. Hope this helps, Elizabeth.

Yes, Pachysandra.

That is the lad  thanks lots both of you.  I must find where I can buy a few plants as it impressed me as a ground cover.

Elizabeth, I gave loads of that away and Paddy shredded the rest. You should be able to get that from someone. It can take off, so be aware. You can get a variegated form as well which is not as rampant.

Yes believe it or not I knew it as well as Paddy gave me loads but I put it in the wrong place and it died cursing me! I do have a few tiny plants from a previous sowing but they are struggling.

It is an acid lover - I have some but it is quite pale compared to that one due to the lime in my soil. I've looked it up online and it seems to be considered a pretty invasive non-native species in some places because once ti gets going it is pretty invasive. The rhyme about it describes its progress "Year one it sleeps, year two it creeps but year three it gallops" but with the unfavourable conditions in my garden we have barely got to "creep" in 4 or 5 years!
