Dahlias Marigold and Cosmos

Dahlias Marigold and Cosmos

Bit disappointed with Dahlias this year - for all the work involved you need to get a big performance but not to be this year - Weather, slugs etc saw to that. This one is doing ok though even though it never got out of it's pot.

The slugs and snails had a feast this year, your choc cosmos are thriving!

Did you keep the cosmos in a pot? A lovely group.

Mary as i told Tony you have a dahlia the exact colour of my new jumper bought today at a sale in naas. Shall I go up and stand beside your dahlia to give it a bit of encouragement!

thats a lovely contrast, and i agree with the dahlia situation this year, as you said, rain,

slugs, no warmth overall. i planted a trio of open ones as the insects prefer those and

only one came out and it was rosette type, very annoying, not as the packet said.

The only dahlias I have here this year were from seeds sown sent by Deborah.  I love the contrast you have with the dahlias and cosmos.

Mary I love the colours and have to agree about the Daahlias the rain I blame.

A bad year for Dahlias, a bad one for roses, terrible year for slugs; I was really tempted to take up cooking.  I'm going to give that apple crumble recipe another go.

Thanks All Scrubber that would be such a treat you and your red jumper would be very welcome in Cavan even if I have not got a dahlia to match by the time you get here. Ha Ha Anne it is really not that difficult try again and let me know how you get on  - cooking and gardening compliment each other Yes Peter the wine coloured flower is Cosmos - Myrtle yes keep it in a pot and stick it in the tunnell later on.
