After seeing Spider's hyacinths, I have to admit to a bit of jealously.  Mine are planted since mid November and are only about 1.5 inches tall.   I guess what is slowing them down is that they are in the living room which is the coldest room in the house when the fire is not lit but becomes too hot when lit.  Normally, I only light the fire on Sundays but with this cold spell and the holidays, it has been lit every day.  All I can do is hope that they continue to grow.

I did my flower count - disappointing results.  I have heathers, cyclamen, hellebores, violas and one primula (new breed from June Blake which is unnamed).  I have Skimmia Japonica and a few roses just about hanging in there.  Nothing out of the ordinary or amazing but I was surprised as at this time of the year, with both the cold and the garden looking gloomy, it certainly wouldn't encourage anyone out to admire them.  Must give it a bit of thought for next year.

They might be slow but they will be good when they show, not to bad on the flower count, considering the year we had.

the hyacinths are certainly looking healthy. There's no sign of my Hellebores but I think they were much later last year too.

The hellebore I have in flower is a new one this year.  The other 2 in the garden have leaves only - not even a hint of a flower bud.

Mairin, isn't it nicer to have your Hyacinths to look forward to in January, after the excitement of Christmas.

Think we're all a bit disappointed with what's in flower but with any luck things will change in the near future. My hyacinths are only a bit ahead they are in glasses must move them into a warmer location to bring them on

Yea Rachel is right. We still have ours when everyone elses are gone. Hee hee. Good flower count, Mairin. Wish mine was as good.

I had three  in a pot in the garage which l had completely forgotten about. I brought them  in to the house a few days ago and they are just beginning to peek through so like you say have them to look forward to.
