These 2 were still going strong today and giving beautiful scent . Thanks to Dicks advice I take Rose cuttings every year now and most do well . These 2 are for some Cuttings tomorrow ... before I forget

The Holly was grown from a little plant I pulled from an old cobbled yard three years ago and is covered in berries already . I bet there's none left for Christmas though !

Two beautiful roses Declan and a nice holly too, well rescued. How do you treat rose cuttings? I've never succeeded with them.

Joan I simply take a 14 inch stem about a pencil thickness , remove all but the two very top leaves and push it over half ways into a prepared drill or trench . I find well draining soil is best . Plant more than you need as not all take but I get  about a 60% success rate . I now have Ten Rose bushes growing in my veg garden for transplanting . I dont remove them from the veg garden until year 2-3.

Dick has always been very successful with rose cuttings and so glad that the process has worked for you. The roses are gorgeous, cannot decide which is my favourite. The holly tree looks a good size for three years.

We haven't heard from Dick for a while, hope all is well with him.

Yes I think I'll drop Dick a message soon .

I have grown a few roses from cuttings. It works better with ramblers oor climbers, but could work with any rose. Takes a couple of years to produce flowers, so you need patience.
