Orange and Lemon delights!

As we get nearer to Autumn the colours in the garden reflect this. Although I've still lots of pinks, yellows, purple etc, it's the oranges that seem to be taking over now.

And some are very striking. Like this Dahlia 'Gloriosa' which I bought this year in Bloom. It's flowers are orange tipped with red. This is only starting to open this week. Quite late compared to others but still more than welcome here.

Another one flowering now is Lantana. This has a great citrus aroma to it and beautiful little orange/yellow flowers. This I bought in Lidl a few years back and is doing great. I Over Wintered it in the greenhouse and I really thought it had died. But no, it's definitely full of life.

Lastly is Leucanthemum 'Real Charmer'. Now this is gorgeous. The buds burst open to a beautiful yellow fluffy daisy-like flower with a golden centre. Then as it ages it turns white around the edges. Makes a lovely addition to the garden.

Ive noticed this week that the evenings are definitely getting darker earlier. But still a good stretch. Today should be another fine day so finally I'm hoping to get some time in the garden as I've been tied up with family stuff these past two weeks.

Have a great day whatever you do ;)

Love the dahlia, way over the top, what dahlias should be. I think Leucantheums are not grown enough in gardens now, maybe went out of fashion over the years. I grow one called Leucantheum 'Hazel's Dream' and the flowers just glow and dance in any breeze, a beautiful one. Agree that the light has changed and there is a feeling of Autumn. This year the weather seems at least three/four weeks ahead of normal.

'Real Charmer' is well named, Jackie.  I normally prefer white Leucanthemums but that one is captivating.  Yes, touches of autumn are coming in; I notice it more in the plants than in daylight.  As Mary says, they seem well ahead of normal season.  It was a lovely day today, hope you got to enjoy it in your garden.

Thank you ladies.

Finally got out for an hour yesterday evening to see how much weeds and cutting back needs doing. And now I see it has rained overnight. Typical.
