Quietly carrying on!

25 October 2017 08:12:07

Isn't October so mild and we have had such beautiful days too.

It's been a while since I posted ( oh my goodness) as a lot going on here and I've been lacking in the journal dept!! But I have been commenting on others.

So Autumn is definitely here and the garden is full of leaves. Although the difference is amazing since that massive tree was taken down last Spring from the Council. I have little or no leaves at the side nor the front garden. It's fantastic. Back garden is the usual but not as bad either. So that's great.

Lots still flowering in the garden for the end of October. Between Ophelia and Brian we have had little or no damage. The odd plant blown over, lost a few fronds off the Tree Fern but overall thankful that it wasn't worse.

Still lots of Dahlia flowering and this D. Creme de Caisse is looking great.

Geranium Rozanne has taken on a new lease of life after I cut back lots of its foliage and I also found a lovely Hellebore underneath. Love these surprises

Last photo are my Penstemon which are also flowering away and looking so healthy too.

Its great to see so much colour going on as it certainly makes these dark Oct/Nov months feel like they go by quicker. I don't like these 2 months at all. So looking forward to getting them out of the way!!

Cant seem to upload photos now grrrrr says some sort of 'internal error'. Anyone else have this problem :(

Big trees were taken down at the back of my garden a few years ago and the difference, leaf-wise, is fantastic .

I've just been dealing with the aftermath of 7 Poplar trees I had taken down myself! I have nearly as much leaves collected as I had for the whole garden last year! But on the plus side I have a HUGE amount of beautiful leafmould!

Heather I know that feeling exactly. I hope you are almost ‘home’ now ;)

Yes Hazel that is a bonus  but then you have the space for storing the leaves too

The east coast seems to have been spared the worst of the two storms. The leaves came down here in one week between the storm on the Monday and Brian at the weekend. Hornbeams and Magnolias are the only trees with leaves left to fall. This site is gone to hell for uploading photos.

Its such a shame Mary........I love nothing more than coming along and catching up on Journals, even if I dont always post a comment, I would come back another time and do so. But its now a right pain trying to upload and like that I use my phone all the time and cant put photos up without them being every which way but the way I want them!! so frustrating!
