Enjoying the good Weather

14 March 2017 17:23:09

Yesterday was glorious and to day good as well. I think we got the best of the weather here in Carlow yesterday. With the sun shining, I got at the third of the rose beds and to day finished the job. Due to a big Sycamore tree in the middle of the lawn there were seedlings all over the lawn. I took photos of Hydrangeas yesterday. These were taken as cuttings last summer and while they were dormant in the winter, the foliage is showing up at the moment. I also took a photo of the climbing variety of Hydranges which is looking great. There is a Magnolia stellata at the back and the first flower is almost fully open now. I would like to mow the lawn and it should be done at the moment but due to arthritis, I will have to get somebody else to do the job.

The last few days have been gorgeous and it is great to get out in the garden. The hydrangea cuttings have done very well for you and it is good to get the roses finished. Magnolias have flowered very early this year and today a lot of the trees and shrubs have started to green up. Delight you can get help with the grass.

Aren't Hydrangeas great Dick, I ve a few I stuck in pots last September showing nicely . What to do with them all is  question for another day

Declan, when I attended the get together, in Johnstown, they were ther for other members. I sell them at the Country Market, here in Carlow. We hold it on Fridays. We won't have it this week as it is St. Patrick's Day.

I potted more Tomato plants to day and hope they will be sold on Friday week.

You have great success with your Hydrangea cuttings, Dick.  Good to know you have help with the grass cutting, as it's a big area for you to manage.

The cuttings look good and healthy. Hope you get someone in to do the grass for you.

The Hydrangeas are easily rooted. I normally take the cuttings in June. a month ago there was no foliage visible but especially due to the good weather they have come on well. I have a big Magnolia stellata at the back full of flower buds and to day two flowers are open. The lawn is big and too much for me to mow.
