Out of Commission for a While

17 May 2017 18:00:53

Sorry friends of Garden.ie but gardening has been out for a while. In recent times, my energy was low, much better now. I had thought that things would come right but eventually I called on my GP. Tuesday and Thursday of last week. He arranged me to se Mr. Ian Wilson in Aut Even Hospital. So as one who travwls a limited distance by car, I drove to Carlow station, then by train to Kilkenny and taxi  to the hospital. I met Mr.Wilson and discussed the problem. This was on Friday and back to Carlow. Sunday still not myself apart from Mass I went nowhere thenI started the Fleet dose, two bottles of Fleet and about 6 pints af water. Some of  the cleansing started anf anybudy who knows this operation, I hope they wont require it. No solid food that day and on Monday food and water were out. My nephew Eoin who had helped me before and he lives in Kildare, drove to Aut Even(Ait Aoibhinn) and the setting of the grounds suggest this. Very soon I was in the theatre and when I opened my eyes again I was in the area where I was collected. I was back in Carlow that evening. My energy is much better. in the process of preparing for hospital, I had a shower and that could have caused thr problem I have with the left leg. I had the physiotherapist to dat. Should be on my feet withina few days.

Oh, Dick, that's so awful. But you sound like a man who does exactly what the doctors say. Stay with that thought. And hopefully you'll be as right as rain very soon.

Oh Dick I am so sorry to hear that and hope you will soon be feeling better. Mr Wilson has a very good name so I am sure you will improve. Aut Even is a splendid hospital and it was great that you were allowed back toCarlow so soon. Hope those legs will soon be propelling you out into the garden. In the meantime take things easy.

Poor you, Dick.  When you are on your own, it can be hard to deal with these things and overcoming feeling sorry for yourself.  But, from the short time have known you on this site, I realise you are prepared to make the best of things and not allow it to get on top of you.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Crikey Dick, you've been through the mill ! It must be awful not being able to get the little jobs done when you want to . Still your health is more important and important to be fully recovered before attempting the work . Best wishes for a speedy recovery

Very sorry to hear you have been out of sorts, Dick, and my very best wishes to you for a rapid recovery. With your positive outlook on life you will be flying it shortly and you can relax and enjoy the start of the Munster hurling championship on sunday even if Limerick aren't playing.

Dick Dick 17 May 2017 23:18:58

Thank you all for your kind words. They did a good job on me and from the point of view of being in good for and having energy, that is great. The other item I hope will be solved quick ly. I am looking forward to the Cork ve Tipp match  and the Rebels don't seem bad. after in the Leac=gue they were the only side that beat Tipp and look how Galway vertually destroyed Tipp. What do you feel Declan. I remember the days when these two Counties met and there was only a puck of a ball between them. Sean, I am a mixture of Cork and limerick and as my father was from the Rebel County

By the way a neighbour is looking after the greenhouse for me.

Ah Dick , you are secretly hoping the underdog will cause an upset . I'd loto be a Cork hurler next Sunday in Thurles , no expectations , no pressure , no hope , what an ideal opportunity to upset the odds .

I believe Tipp will win but as usual after a battle and a half . I lived in Cork during the 80s and well remember the titanic battles , draws and replays . It's a shame the rebelse lost their way . It made it all the easier for Kilkenny to dominate as Cork were a team they always feared .

Up the Premier , sure our Ladies won League and promotion last Sunday so Iam hoping for another good result !

Dick Dick 18 May 2017 20:05:37

Thank you all. I mentioned the physiotherapist and and he gave me home work. I can do things I was unable to do in the last few days. He was a student of mine for a while. Don't worry I will be at the garden again.

Moya Moya 18 May 2017 22:29:30

Dick, I hope that operation sorted the problem and that you will recover completely very quickly. I love reading your journals about your tomatoes and roses so I hope you can get back to gardening in the not too distant future.

PeterW PeterW 18 May 2017 22:36:48

Get better soon dick

Jackie Jackie 20 May 2017 08:05:10

Dick so sorry to read that you are unwell. Wishing you a speedy recovery and hopefully you will be up and out real soon. Take care.

Dick Dick 20 May 2017 23:20:08

Thank you all. Energy very good to day . I got outside the house to day, front and back. I went to the greenhouse. The tomato plants are showing plenty of flowers, should be feeding them soon. The grapes are sweet. I tasted some of them. I even drove to the shop to buy some food. I hope to get to Mass to morrow.

Fleurette Fleurette 21 May 2017 00:07:47

That is great progress, Dick. You have such determination and it will pay off.

Mary B Mary B 21 May 2017 22:07:29

And a great win for Cork today must have made you feel even better!

Rebels abú :)
