I nearly forgot

29 October 2017 13:06:32

Being the time of year when it gets dark early on, I had the idea that I had a particular job to do. I had a fair number of phone calls and on each occasion and at one stage went to the back garden with a pruning saw, did a little pruning in the area where Storm Brian had visited when he was here. Due to the operation I had, It was not to be too strenuous, the branches which about a week earlier had not been moved, I did a bit of clearing using the hands. That night I did the usual exercises and retired to the bed. I was awakened a few tomes to dod something important. At one stage When I woke , I said to myself "had I forgotten something?  Was this the time to put back the clock?" There seemed to be no mention in the 6.01 news of same. I had missed the later news. It had come on well before 9. Well, this time I mentioned, my watch read 7:20 a.m. How was I to know? All of the clocks, my watch, the Radio alarm clock in the bedroom , etc., all read the same. Then I went to the computer and looked for the time, and lo and behold it was only 6:25 a.m. So all was solved and I had the extra hour. Now items like the clocks, watch, microwave cloc, central heating have been reset.

It sort of snuck up on us this year Dick ! You would nearly require a degree in electronics now to reset everything . My cooker and heating is on the timer too .

Great to have the extra house in bed but I would prefer to see the evenings brighter! Its very mild too, which is great and lots of time outside, but even that makes it strange to think we are now on Winter time!

A lot to be said for that Jackie. It was drk at 6 this evening but I cannot understand that they wait until the end of March to reintroduce summer time. After all it is less than 2 months to the shortest day but more than 3 months after that to summer time coming back.

So true, Dick! I really hate the dark winter days.

I hate this time of year, but it is not too long to the 21st December and if the weather is dry and mild it won't seem that bad.

I agree with you Dick. I think the 1st of February would be a good time to change back to summer time.

Thank you all. My computer was not getting or sending any messages for some time. A technichian from Eir arrived this morning, still no reception. Then I rang my telephone Co. Now all is in order again.
