new cloches

new cloches

spent the first part of the morning washing out big pots, then fixed a leaky hose. after dinner took some of the plants out of the tunnel to get at the potatoes, which needed to be earthed up. then hubby and i got stuck into doing the cloches. we got three of them made. one for the potatoes, one for the brassicas and one for turnips and rest of brassicas.

then we put back all the plants we took out of the tunnel and i put some spring pots just to add some colour. repoted my blueberries.

i am absolutely recked after all that, but delighted with the results.

tunnnel needs some work done, if i feel up to it tomorrow i will do it, if not it will get done during the week. some of the veg is ready to be hardened off, lettuce and beetroot and leeks and spring onions, need the space for other stuff.

Why are you putting cloches on your potatoes?

Cloches look great I need to make up some hoops and plant out my brassicas and then put netting over to keep the cabbage butterflies out.

the reason hazel that i put cloches on my potatoes is because i have seen the difference between outside and indoor potatoes and it really is amazing, the potatoes in the tunnel are way ahead by a month. geraldine  i actuallly saw a white butterfly today and thought ha ha you aint getting at my brassicas.  best of luck tomorrow hope you win loads. hi myrtle got alot done need to get alot done in the next week or so in the tunnel alone not counting what has to be done outside. but i love doing what i do so it is not like work, what i hate is housework, thats a bore and thankless. confirmation in three weeks so its full steam ahead.
