On the damp side this morning.

Comfrey [Symphytum] the perennial herb,begins to flower.

Rain has decided to visit overnight here,and still a light drizzle falls.Had a quick look in the tunnel just after 7am and doors have been left closed.In another few weeks the weather will really begin to heat up [we hope] for all gardeners.Any wet and warm weather will bring on a visit from Leaf spot[Mycosphaerella brassicicola] on cabbages and Leaf spot on beetroot and spinach [Cercospora beticola]and [Ramularia beticola.] Spent until about 11.30 last night in the tunnel and will head back there earlier than usual on return home this evening [all going well] for a short while.No plans for later on with the usual Wednesday night card game from 8pm.

Jools was so nice and sent me some roots of comfrey,it is one good and usefull plant.

It sure is a wet day :-/ Everything in my garden and polytunnel seems to have slowed right down...hope it's just my impatience!!! Your peas and potatoes are well ahead of mine, they look great :)

Where did you get the comfrey John, I have been trying to get one for ages and have a request posted for any info on the where to find ...site since I joined the garden club, but then I haven't tried the garden centre for a few weeks (maybe this is the time they stock these plants???)I read somewhere that the leaves when composted in water make an excellent liquid organic fertilizer.

Weather really upsets plans Lu.[Thanks] If you have a thermometer handy in the tunnel,once the reading goes below 7.5 to 8 deg,growth stops.Above 30 deg also comes to a standstill.Your peas and potatoes will never be to far behind.

I searched and searched more garden centres looking for that herb and ended up getting seeds [Gift] from some of the family that are into gardening.Almost 5 weeks it takes them to germinate.Last year i was having a chat with friends,not to far from where i live,and the chat came up about the comfrey.At Bloom last year[they attended] i was told trays of it were spotted.I wont tell you my reply when i heard that [to myself that was] The leaves give off Nit3 Phosphate0 and Potash10.Not to friendly of a smell,but worth it.

Sorry about cutting short the journal above Wellie.I will check and see if i spot any seeds along the way.[The phone rang].

Just as we love peppermint tea etc from herbs Liga,we have to treat the ground to a cuppa also of the comfrey tea,to the keep things happy for all.
