Home grown Runner bean.[Leguminosae] May 2010.

Not as much time spent as planned there this evening.First off i planted the Hebe i picked up yesterday. When that was finished time was spent with some of the tubs in the vegetable garden. The herb house was given a sweep out and checked for watering.I will spend a while in the tunnel later for about an hour.Straight to the veg garden tomorrow evening.[all going well]

Your runner beans are flying it John. Cant believe they're flowering already. When did you sow those?

Myrtle Myrtle 17 May 2010 22:23:12

great to see the flowers on that John, was examining my tomato plants this evening and I see the beginnings of a flower bud! Give me hope for greater things!

I always love the colour of flowers from runner beans. They look healthy, John.

Are these outside John? Ours are not nearly as far advanced :( They are wonderful - worth growing fro the flower alone!

Cloncaw Cloncaw 17 May 2010 23:09:41

With that stunning colour would look great in a flower bed.

Super runner beans.  I only started hardening mine off today.  They are getting too big for their pots so badly need to be planted out.

Thanks Liam. The runners were planted out in the tunnel on the 13of April. Started a month previous under indoor cover.

Long may the hope for greater things live Myrtle.

Johnplotman Johnplotman 18 May 2010 08:17:51

Thanks Jacinta. We need plenty of sunshine to make those colours last.

Johnplotman Johnplotman 18 May 2010 08:22:46

They are in the tunnel Monica. With the Runner beans [Phaseolus coccineus] being tender, they would fight an uphill battle for colour with the weather.Hopefully that will all change this week, thanks. We need weeks off it.

Johnplotman Johnplotman 18 May 2010 08:25:28

Colour add so much to gardening Cloncaw. Some pottaging [mix of flowers and veg] really come to life on a sunny day, thanks.
