Mairin Mairin 11 July 2009 00:25:20

Fine heads but personally I hate the stuff! Himself loves them so I do cook it for him.....rarely!

hi John, is it garden soil that you grow the cabbage in or is it a special mix? grand size...........

can you bottle some of that energy John and send by courier. Everything you do is 'quick' check, trim, washdown. You must have the cleanest garden in Ireland. I see a show specimen cabbage there. Any shows in the near future?

when you are sending some energy and enthusisum to rita send some to me too. you are so organised john, everythi8ng maped out to do each day, you deserve a medal, i have really slowed down lately, normally more in tune with everything, thought about getting some help in to catch up

the cabbages are looking delicous, i can nearly taste them, are they a type called primo11

Johnplotman Johnplotman 11 July 2009 21:27:23

Thanks Chris. The cabbage i used are called greyhound. Some of tubs were lifted up from the base of the garden to try and organise a sand trap against the slugs. Not near any harbour.

Johnplotman Johnplotman 11 July 2009 21:34:03

Thank you Mairin, Some of the most liked veg in this house.Himself knows the goodness of green veg.

Johnplotman Johnplotman 11 July 2009 21:40:45

Hi Dave, Most of the tubs have a special mix as you mentioned.A layer of compost.clay, sand, manure and feed are used in the tubs and a light sprinkle of lime to the brassicas only.Growing well, thanks.

I would even send some on an aeroplane faster than a courier to you if i could Rita.I try to keep things as tidy, clean, trim etc as possible.Thanks.A show specimen maybe if our friends the slugs and snails dont pay an unwelcome visit. The show is planned for 2/8/09.When i hear more details on it i will let you know.

Johnplotman Johnplotman 11 July 2009 22:02:18

Thanks Kitty.I will do my best to send some cabbage to both yourself and Kitty as you mentioned.Things will get back into tune for you.Do whatever you are only able to do.Dont over do it.The cabbages are greyhound.Sowing time etc on the journal.
