Lavatera branch hits the deck from wind..

What another strange day today.Between wind and rain the garden is getting slight touches of the middle of winter. Some light branches etc did not survive the wind.In between the showers i thinned out some last sowings of lettuce and turnips.Gave a light watering to the tunnell and greenhouse.Went for a walk with the dog and also to admire other peoples gardens wherever possible. That was all in the garden today.

I taught we were bad with some wind Gismo, but with thunder and lighting your area was a lot worse. Some day we will all all be suprised with a heatwave. When,it comes though is not known.

I wont hold my breath on that one but I will be dreaming of having a fine day to sit out and enjoy all the hard work :O)

Yea - storm damage here too - mad because I only cut down a catmint on Thursday which was completely taking over and had I left it there, it would have stopped some of the damage.

I feel ur pain! the loss of the Lavatera branch, a whole shrub blew over on me last Winter, wind-rock broke it at the base. Replaced it there recently, they are such a great flowering shrub, showy and happy in the garden, aren't they?

Trouble comes in bucket fulls Mairin.Things will improve sometime. The weather might retire from attacking gardens here in Ireland and maybe even send on some sunshine.

Johnplotman Johnplotman 14 July 2009 20:11:21

They are indeed Janette.Lavatera is 1 of the most loved flowering shrubs here in the garden.App 4 months back 3 of them blew over in the garden here with heavy wind.Hard to replace old favourites in the garden like the Lavatera.
