Carrots coming on well in deep tubs.

Carrots coming on well in deep tubs.

Nothing much needed to be done with either feeding or watering in the garden this evening.Gave the leylandii hedge opposite the main front beds a quick trimming to keep it in shape.Cleaned the greenhouse windows and finally had a quick walk around the veg area to see all was going to plan.

hi john definaltey show carrots, i put parsnips in containers so far so good, when my carrots were in the ground they looked so healthy, until we pulled them. i posted a picture in one of my journal entries of the wonky carrots, see what you think

Not me im afraid Monica.I ended up with more suds etc around the place.Things was not to bad at the end.No sun showed so i did not see all the marks i probably left behind.

A long way off yet Rita, with the carrot flies waiting to give a call.Time will tell. With this weather we have had for the past few days, trouble all the way.Come on sunshine.

Johnplotman Johnplotman 21 July 2009 21:20:21

Depending on the type used Gismo.Be they short-rooted,intermediate-rooted,or long rooted Some of the tubs are app .5 of a metre high here.So you can get whatever carrots suits the size you want from small up to whaterer suits, height wise..

I would not bet on it just yet Kitty. Can you send on some good weather to this part of the country. Doing well with the parsnips. The picture of the carrots look to me like a touch of fanging damage to them from either stoney groung,or adding manure shortly before planting. They are one of the root crops and sooner use ground from a previous crop.I could be wrong.
