Almost another poor day.

Book room time.

Book room time.

At least it did not rain today with an odd slight touch of sunshine at times. The garden is a mud bath in places as for the veg garden, parts of the mulch on it are similar. That did not stop me taking an early walk for a look over the veg garden especially. In bed 4 the last of the broad beans will be removed this week along with any remaining lettuce used there as a filler. If all goes to plan along with the details on yesterdays journal i hope to start the extra compost bin for weeds only. The compost bin at the tunnell was given a quick look over and will be given feed from the house [skins etc] just for a short while longer, until the bed is prepared and then used for feeding the legumes area. Not a lot of work was done in the garden shed this evening.I headed to tidy up the garden book room and get things back into shape with each section for the vegetables.

You could open a lending scheme there, John. Great collection.

Rachel Rachel 10 November 2009 21:22:35

Wow, I bet you're never stuck for a reference source. You must have the complete Dr Hessayon collection there.

I thought my house was full of books - I have three kids and a husband who refuses to give any away so every room has a bookcase (or two) lol - I only have a handful of gardening books tho so I am envious!-)

An odd time Rachel,[thanks].Yes i have the most of them, but Dr Hessayons book,The Vegetable And Herb Expert is the best loved of them.Especially the pocket veg expert by him.Carry it everywhere.

Sharon, with a book case or two in everyroom, you are well into reading also.[thanks].A handful of garden books is as good as a thousand of them.

I have just read through your journal. I am interested in starting to grow vegetables and have been composting since I started the garden so I found your entries very interesting.. Thank you!

Johnplotman Johnplotman 11 November 2009 23:50:04

Hello Thomasina,

Now that your interested also in growing veg its a major boost first off to read in your journal comment that you have your own compost.Along with that, some important tips given to me when i started 1 Grow what you like to eat, 2 Have a small note book and take the time of sowing and harvesting. 3. Always plant the vegetables together that suit each other. When you do start off i will help you as much as possible.[your welcome]
