I see the plant of the day is Knautia macedonica. Three of my plants have been blighted this year by powdery mildew and I was wondering if I should just get rid of them. Two others are blooming away quite happily, unscathed, although they are not planted in the same place.
I presume that the term 'powdery mildew' refers to the effect rather than the cause but will the fungus - whichever one it is - affect other plants if I pop them in the same spot. (I'm not convinced any of this makes sense.)
What I want to know is whether the fungus attacking the Knautia is likely to attack other plants. Hmmmmmmmmmm - when I think of it there are perfectly healthy 'other plants' around the Knautia.
OK - start again. Are my Knautia doomed? Is it just the year that's in it? Is the fungus here to stay? Will I bin the Knautia or should they be given a reprieve? Can it be dealt with and if so how?
And there's a medal for anyone who has persevered so far.
Checking out digital cameras on the web these days. Fed up of having to rely on friends and missing the moment.
