Rosa Mundi

Rosa Mundi

Just been swaning around the garden (charmed life really!!), notebook in hand noting plants in bloom at the moment and plants needing attention etc. etc.

Then I came to things in pots needing planting and discovered this rose given by Greenway! the bud had opened and what a lovely surprise! Rosa Mundi an old rose that I had got a cutting off a few years ago but had not been successful in getting it to 'take'. I am so excited and pleased to get it.

Greenway, thank you so much! and you can be sure I will take good care of this one and look forward to having it in the garden next year adding to my ever increasing selection of roses - I think that is now over 30 different varieties and multiples of many of those!

You have beautiful roses... Is it difficult to grow from cuttings .?. As i have a few cuttings at the moment ..[David's Austin ] .Have them in the water...

Ingrid, roses in general are quite easy to grow from cuttings and I intend to take some in a few weeks time. I root them in a mix of grit and potting compost in a pot and cover with a clear plastic bag over the top and stick in the middle to keep the bag/moisture off the leaves. Puy an elastic band around the bag at the top of the pot and leave in a cool place for a few weeks and you should see growth. Then remove the bag.

Lovely rose. I had it a few years ago, planted in a pot on the gravel at the greenhouse. However, I got a bit fed up with it as space was tight. I was giving it away, and discovered the roots had come through the drainage hole and rooted into the gravel underneath. Vigorous grower, but gorgeous.
