Happy days are here again!

Happy days are here again!

My first day in the garden! I got out in the garden this afternoon for about 3 hours and dug a bed that is near a side wall and is dry enough to dig, today I feel nothing but happiness and contentment but maybe tomorrow a few aches and pains! Felt very unfit after the winter! but oh it was great to get in to the garden again.

Today started off well with the delivery of my heated propagator and seeds from Mr Middleton. So when it started to get dusk and I finished in the garden, I went off to Woodies to buy grit, perlite and vermiculite. So when I decide to start sowing seeds I have everything ready. I threw out some of the contents of the pots in the shed, which were definitely dead, so my job for this evening is to wash them out.

The weather is supposed to be good for the weekend but I have other commitments for the next few days so sadly this is the only day I could get in the garden but I really enjoyed it.

Great when a plan comes together. You seem to be on top of things. Long may it last. This is the start of it now. Wahoo!

Nothing like getting going on the garden to cheer you up. We'll all have to follow your lead now.

I agree Myrtle. I spent the afternoon in the garden too tidying up and removing plants blackened by the frost. I cut back the remainder of my Pelargoniums hoping that they might resurrect again this year like the phoenix rising from its ashes. It was great to be back in the garden again and I am looking forward to the Spring. After my day in the garden I feel like Oisin when he returned from Tir Na Nog and climbed down from his horse.

It's great to be out again and planning for the year ahead, evenings really stretching although we had fog this morning and again this afternoon, hoping Sunday will be a good day so as I can get a bit more done.

Glad you were able to benefit from the good day. That propagator looks good!

Yes, it was great to get out there today, despite the fog and mist. A bit of digging and poking in the dirt is a great tonic. Its supposed to be cold again for a few days so its back to washing and sorting seedtrays etc, planning and ordering supplies and gazing wistfully outside.

Great days work yesterday hope the body is not aching but it will be worth it, good luck with your new propagator, what are you growing or planting ?.

Mairin Mairin 24 January 2010 00:26:54

What a great way to spend the day!  Please let us know how you get on with the propagator.  Very interested.

Yes will do that, it is heated and fits nicely on my sunroom window so Im hoping I will

have some success with growing seeds, would need your little greenhouse then to put

them into! so I will be watching your journal to see how you get on with that!

Myrtle Myrtle 24 January 2010 13:13:52

Clara, I have lots of seeds both ones I bought and ones Rachel gave me, so between them all I should manage some success. Hope to see you on Tuesday night.
