Loropetalum chinense 'Fire Dance'

Rachel, your beautiful little Loropetalum suffered quite badly in the frost and this afternoon I was going to spend some time in the garden but the cold wind has chased me back in doors! But not before I gave my little plant some shelter. This top of a bin was to be buried in the ground to keep alstromerias in control but job hasnt been done yet, so I thought I would use it for now to give some shelter to your plant, although the end of the branches are dead it looks ok in the centre so I am hoping that this will get it through the rest of the winter.

Sorry to hear that, Myrtle. But maybe it'll spring back.

Ha that is a plant I have ready to go to Fran. Lovely little plant. Mine looks fine, thank God. So far, so good.

With any luck it'll bounce back with a bit of TLC.

The sun will soon bounce back Myrtle, and hope your plant will also.

The leaves in the centre of the plant look healthy enough. I would cut the pant back beyond the leaves which were damaged by the frost as it is possible that the stems carrying those leaves may have been affected also. You will have a fine plant there in due course.

Even though they are originally Chinese, Loropetalum chinense bushes are very common in Japan especially planted along streets. They are beautiful. The best of luck to you!
