First Day of School

01 September 2009 23:03:04
And he's off!

And he's off!

With a mixture of nerves and excitement Eoin started school today.  We asked him what he learned and he said he learned how to sneeze into his elbow!

Oh God. If it's not the recession, it's the swine flu! But he looks very handsome.

Thats very funny.  My two got similar lessons as well.  I got the whole run down on swine flu from my eldest.

My girls learnt how to wash their hands while singing 'Happy Birthday'!!!!!!

Well today was a different story - tears and a tight grip that had to be prized from Mammy's neck and the big sister had to be called to the rescue!

Lovely picture!! My girls went back to school on Monday and I forgot to take a picture, I was so annoyed at myself!

One of my daughters also told me about sneezing in her elbow, and they have both been learning about the flu. I told them about it during the summer, but they were half listening, and of course, when the teacher said it, they listened much more carefully!!

I hope Eoin is happier tomorrow! That always happens doesn't it? The first day the excitement takes over but the second day they realise this is serious!

My little grand-son had his first full day in creche today! I felt nearly as bad as when his Mum had her first day in school!

Congratulations to Eoin! He's very clever I think, I really thought he's six. Still thinking that school for 5 years old boy sounds too serious. Our children start primary school at 7. Of course, before that they go to kindergartens (full day there, cause their parents must work), but it is not the same with school. :)

Well I hope Eoin had a brilliant, now two days of school, tell him when he can sneeze with his big toe he can go into Senior infants :-D

Isn't he a dote!  I love seeing them as they head off that first day with the clothes slightly big on them and within a month, the clothes fit perfectly.  He looks like you, by the way, around the eyes.

aww he looks so cute. school is a big scary place for the first few days and sure then you have your own little friends and games to be playing. And tomo is friday already :O)

Ah he looks so cute my little man went off as well - has been in the naughty corner once already - When I asked him what he had done he said Mammy i teased a girl but she liked it !!! Well we have the Swine flu full on here now as out local national school was all over the news to-day with 18 children suspected cases school still open and mine all good so far so let's hope it is curtailed. Hope your young man is settled in now. Still really disappointed about the snaily garden - have you heard anything about a sale in Belvedere in Sept?

Drumanagh Drumanagh 10 September 2009 08:04:31

Oh no, its such a worry.  Hopefully it won't spread anymore and they will all recover quickly.  My little fella finally settled this week although it took a lot of bribing and if the others are upset it could easily set him off again!  There is a 'rare' plant sale on in Belvedere on sat 20th from 11am.  Maybe Snaily garden plants will be there. I definitely will be going. Will you make it?
