Topsy Turvy by JML

Topsy Turvy by JML

I promise I am NOT a 'gadget' woman. I have had so many customers in the last 3 weeks looking for the recently advertised 'Topsy Turvey' tomato planter. However, they were on a shelf nowhere near the garden centre, so I never got the opportunity to have a proper look at them. Well, just thinking about it today. I have so many tomatoes on the 'go' this year that space is definitely going to be a priority. So here goes. I bought one of our own tomatoes today, as they are already hardened off. My ones are way too small. Dave's ones are way too big. So this was the ideal solution. It's funny really how stupid some people can be. So many customers actually thought that this Topsy Turvey came with its own compost and tomato plant. Hee hee. Now THAT would be a miracle.

I have it planted up now, and it is hanging out of the Loggia. This will be interesting to see the results. It retails at €9.95 (plant and compost NOT included).

Interesting idea, saw the JML ad not too long ago as well. Maybe can try strawberries with this. I don't really like the strawberry pots with holes at the side--compost fall out like crazy! (sorry, went off tangent from your topic). Will watch this space.

The only thing is, Shazz, there is just the one opening at the bottom. But you could take off the top of it, and plant into it that way.

But a clever little idea with this topsy turvy is that they include a foam disc that fits around the neck of the plant so the compost stays put.

Looks good and hope it works as I got one in Woodies last week and now I will pot it up on Sunday.

Hello everyone, Last year my 11 year old daughter and I had a competition to see who tomato's would grow faster and taste better, I did as I always do each year and grew mine in the green house.... my daughter, well she choose to grow hers in the Topsy turvey' tomato planter and she hung them off our T-bar clothes line!.......To my surprise I lost, yes I lost to an 11 year old her tomato's were fab and lots of them and she rarely had to water them, so as you have guessed this year I have gone Topsy Turvey mad...... but not on the clothes line, I have just hung 6 brackets at the side of the house and each of them are growing away mad with tuns of little yellow flowers, also they are great for strawberries!
