Today

I didn't manage to get anything done today. Dropped in to Dad on the way home from work. Years ago he rescued some ferns from the ditches on the country roadside and planted them in his garden. They seemed to have died off. But just recently he discovered ferns growing under his shed, which has wire mesh all around at ground level to deter nesting rats. He wanted me to dig the ferns up and pot them so he could enjoy them at closer range. Did that for him with as many as I could, and came away with a few Asplenium scolopendrums that somehow 'appeared' out of nowhere. Spores must have been lying dormant for years.

So tomorrow I am off. Hope to do a bit of work on the area in the photo. Plenty of weeding to be done, and will be planting some of the new little ferns. Hopefully the weather will be a bit brighter.

When it comes to parents, to hell to your own work.  They will be dead long enough and then you'll have all the time in the world to do your own thing.

Yes, Maureen. My sentiments exactly. Dad is approaching his 80th Birthday in July. And is so lonely since Mam died 3 years ago. My brother emigrated to the Philippines in Feb so I am the only one in Dublin, (One in Skerries, one in Balbriggan, and another in Tralee). I'm only down the road from him. So I feel the need to keep checking up on him. I drop into him most days.
