This years sunflowers 'Earth Walker'

You all probably know I buy the weekly publication of Amateur Gardening. They are great at giving free seeds with most issues during the summer months. Only the other day I thought to myself that this was going to be the first year in a long long time that I didn't have sunflowers in my garden. Then I went into the supermarket that day and right on cue I saw it on the shelves. And free sunflower seeds. Wahoo. In the propagator as we speak.

Bought the Lidl windowsill heated propagator with 6 cells and it is brilliant. I would highly recommend it.

Andy, I have been having problems changing my profile image. Have been on to Craig. So far no joy.

Tina, yes I have an electric propagator. Widely available.I got mine in Atlantic Homecare. You can pick them up for about €45. Well worth it.

Earth Walker! That's a beautiful sunflower. Nicer than that photo. I'm growing it again this year too :)

Good luck with the seeds, have planted Red Sun and have another coming on just have to find a place for them. Propagators are certainly worth the money they cost.

Lawn Edgers are also brilliant. I wouldn't be without one. I don't know any other way of keeping the edges neat and precise. But there is one point to consider. Every time you edge your lawn with it, you are eating away into the grass bit by bit. Mind you, that doesn't bother me - yet. Soon I'll probably edge my way right up to one of the ponds. :) I'll end up with no grass.
