'Stargazer' will be nice in this

'Stargazer' will be nice in this

What a horrible day. No customers outside but at least I got a chance to give some plants a lot of badly needed T.L.C. Everything has been blown to bits - lupins, astilbes etc. The place is looking really sad! I ended up reducing a lot of stuff. But I have decided that my garden is no longer going to be like an 'intensive care ward' . I won't bring rubbish home with me any more. The trees were toppling over all day. Even though it was showery (and some of them were really heavy) I still had to water, and water. Their leaves were shrivelling up. I'm sure the few customers who braved the elements must have thought that I was a bit demented!

This evening I disposed of a lovely little Camellia 'Tiptoe'. It had been doing so well. It is now as dead as a Dodo! No chance of resuscitating it. It's funny the way a lot of plants only showed signs of deterioration in the last few weeks, after pulling through the winter. However, today I bought some oriental lilies 'Stargazer' for half price. Planted them into the vacant pot.

I am contemplating putting the heating on for an hour!

Blarney castle said that when some roots were frozen in the bad weather the effect doesn't show until the sap starts rising in the spring, so you think your plant has survived when it hasn't at all.

well we can live with the rain, and so can the plants, the wind dries and rocks them back and forward like you do when your uprooting a plant, it loosens the root soil on the plant, thats everyday now for over a month, thats why i detest it at this time of year.
