Arisaema 'griffithii'

Arisaema 'griffithii'

I managed to get to the garden for about 2 and 1/2 hrs today. And boy, it was a breath of fresh air. I know my job keeps me outdoors, but being in my own garden is 'la creme de la creme'. I spent a good while pulling up decayed vegetation and bagging it, and staked my Fremontodendron that was wobbling about precariously with recent winds, and my Yew. Very happy with that. Planted loads of primroses and primulas that I had bought recently. Most of them are now up on the bank where the new pond will be. I just hope they don't get uprooted because of any change in plans. I lost so much stuff last year for the same reason. And hopefully this year will see the completion of the pond. I also got Conrad's lovely pink hellebore in beside my 'niger' and 'argutifolius'. I decided to make up a couple of hanging baskets with primroses and ivy.

Bought a new bird feeder in Aldi today, this one is for mealworms, a delicacy for robins. And topped up ALL feeders. Robbie Robin was waiting in the wings as I was filling them.

Lots of new growth that gave me such a 'buzz'. It's funny but the joy I got from looking at one of my sedums with rain/dew drops on it was unreal. But what excited me most about today was witnessing the noses of two arisaemas peeping up ('griffithii' and 'speciosum').

Jacinta Jacinta 14 January 2012 20:30:41

Cave 'on hold', Anne. Gotta wait until temperatures rise reliably. Otherwise the fibreglass won't 'go off'. But don't worry. We'll keep y'awl posted on its' progress.

We were on Bird feeder fill duty today as well and keeping Shoosh away. She has done for two pidgeons in the scrub and two mice one of whom was helped escape. Those arisaemas are awesome!
