What have I done!

25 September 2009 08:12:50
This is the first time that I actually dont want to go into work. What have I done.......agreeing to carry out this project. I CANNOT possibly do this on my own. I am going to have to get a pickaxe to burrow through the gravel. And I dont know what is under the gravel. Oh I hope I wont find any dead bodies. And I will have to erect posts, which will probably have to be cemented into the ground. I dont think a woman would be able for this. And I will be going on  holidays soon, and dont want to put my back out.

Calm down.  You  need to put it to the boss in such a way that he will have to come up with a plan to get your plan done.  Put it to him along the lines of "MAN-power" needed.  Even if you got one male member of staff allocated to you, ye would get loads done.  It's all about how you put it to the boss.

Your boss is looking for a miracle ask him for more man power maybe himself could help or is he in his suit and cannot get his hands dirty

You will do it you are   a worker  you know that and so does he !!!!!

You are being very ambitious to try to do all this in so short a time, see if you can cut down on some of the hard manual work. Brave girl!

Just tell him it cannot be done by Friday, Robinson Cruso has him employed . :-) Joke. Tell him it will take longer and do a bit at a time. Why the rush.? Do one sq. ft. and show him whats under the gravel and why you cannot do it by Monday.

Jacinta, don't be afraid to tell your boss you will need help on this project and that it cannot be done overnight.

It sounds like you've bitten off more than you can chew. We're all impressed with your abilities, Jacinta, and I'm sure your boss is too. I'm sure you don't need to prove it to him. And, in my opinion, if you're really hell bent on putting your back out, it's best to do it in your own garden : ) It will be all right. I'm sure when your boss gets a chance to think about what he's asking you to do, he will realise he's being unreasonable.

Hello Jacinta,

I'm intrigued about this project you are undertaking. What is it? Is it preparing a planting place for your new Cotoneaster or are you building an underground anti-nuclear bunker?

I was reading your profile again and the mention of Johnny Appleseed's name brought back memories of the time I read about his travels throughout America sowing apple seeds. I thought that was a great idea so anytime I went walking eating an apple I scattered the seeds in grassy areas hopefully.

Keep your spirits up, draw up a plan and explain what help you need for this plan to materialise. If your boss likes what your proposing and is reasonable then he'll make sure you get the help. If he's not able to provide sufficent help then it's unreasonable to expect you to work miracles, I know we're supposed to be "Super Woman" and over the years looked for equal rights but he has to be realistic and if he had to get someone in to do the job it would probably cost him a lot more for not as good a result. You can do this just try to stay calm.

aww hope your okay, I sometimes get great ideas but think OMG how can they actually be done. A few pairs of extra hands would be nice.

Hi Jack, do you know, nobody has ever made any reference to Johnny Appleseed on this site. I thought maybe I had dreamed up the story. Was talking to my Dad the other day about it, and even He didnt remember that story. And it was HIM who told me it all those years ago. I never forgot it. Maybe that was the start of my gardening mania. Hope you're keeping well.
