Dimorphotheca
In work today, I was thinking of the 'sharing' part of this site. I love Osteospermums. But I decided to buy a packet of seeds of Dimorphotheca as there are 190 seeds inside. Plenty for sharing.
Dimorphotheca (South African Daisy) is like an annual form of Osteospermum. Although Osteospermum used to be called Dimorphotheca, this name now only applies to the annual form. These annuals are also known as 'Star of the Veldt' and are very different to the plant we now know as Osteospermum. The flowering period is not as long as Osteos. They are a hardy annual, so seed can be sown in Autumn and Spring. They dislike root disturbance, and should be grown in full sun or the flowers will refuse to open.
I will probably only use about 20-30 seeds, so if anybody wants to try them, just let me know.
