Starting a Santa List

Yea, it's starting early this year.

Today I attempted to power wash the patio, and yard just in front of the patio doors. I am still using a very old PowerWasher that Dad gave me years ago, and in reality, I need a new one. I'd say this is about 15yrs old and bought in Aldi. It did the job fine for Dad, but there's got to have been a vast improvement on the performance of these power tools over the years. So please forgive me for starting my Santa list early.

Have cuts and grazes all over my arms and hands from the other day, my neck and shoulder is very painful from lifting and moving around heavy planters yesterday. The Power Washer relies on a strong grip on the trigger, so now I've cramps in my hands.

I gave up after nearly three hours, and it's only half done. All planters and patio furniture are still on the grass. Wee Davey is due for a sleepover tomorrow. If he sees the PowerWasher out, he'll want to do it. Maybe when he's 16?  LOL So the rest will have to wait until he's gone home on Thursday.

Feeling tired and very old tonight. But hey, my day was lit up afterwards when I noticed my Geranium 'Mourning Widow' open its first flower of the year. Happy Days!

Power washing is a very mucky job, well done for taking it on. Love the Geranium phaeum with the yellow. I bought Geranium phaeum 'Raven' a few weeks ago and just notice flowers on it yesterday. I spent the morning painting the garage door, a miserable job.

Our patio and back garden paths are in dire need of power washing and helpful brother-in-law has volunteered to come over and do it (I don't have a power washer) ... but I still dread the job.  Lovely plant combination there, Jacinta.

I would have preferred painting to power washing. :)

I can't believe that the Geranium is flowering at the same time as my Tulips. Don't think that's ever happened for me before.

Thanks, Joan.

You are working much too hard, Jacinta. Take a good rest, for the sake of your bones. Leave those heaven and wet jobs to a younger person. For the record, I don't have a power washer either, and don't intend to get one.

I have this Geranium in flower too. Great little flowers.

Yes powerwashers are vastly improved. And depending on your budget and how big an area you need to do, you can get one for as little as €50! We bought one a few years back in Lidl for €99 and it did us for about 8 years and it worked it's socks off! Picked our current one up last year in B&Q for €80. Very light plus has a button which keeps it in the 'on' position and no need to have such a grip on it. Worth investing in if you need it !

PCON, looking at it this morning I realise I have less to do today than I thought as a lot of the water wasn't actually draining away yesterday. I had to 'push' the excess water over the lawn with a sweeping brush to avoid muddy puddling. But it has dried out quite a bit overnight and I've only got about 30 minutes more to do. Hallelujah! Might get it done before David arrives. Also, I think I'll cut into the pathway lawn edge. That'll give it a neater appearance, and create a kind of channel for any more water to flow into.

Jackie, those prices seem pretty good. But maybe if I was neater around the garden in the first place, all that algae and spilled compost etc wouldn't gather in the first place. No, happy enough this morning. And it didn't get done last year. So for a job that's only done once a year, my ancient power washer will do..........for now.

Sounds like a good job finished!

My Mourning Widow has grown its second layer of leaves very early this year - and some flowers too! But most exciting is that two seedlings from last year are also in flower!
