Not much done

Lately I haven't been doing much gardening as Dad needs constant attention, and I'm also trying to get together a collection of paintings for a local Christmas Fair or two. But it's amazing to see that Nicandra 'Splash of Cream' is still flowering away, lots more to open and I've also gathered lots of seed for next year.

Still waiting for my ONE single Dahlia to open, the others are still looking really good at the moment. Mind you, they do respond very well to regular dead-heading and feeding. But the single ones are preferred by the bees as they have no difficulty in getting to the pollen.

My half-price trailing Begonias that I bought in Homebase a while back have now started to open. They're quite an elegant one, and a soft muted mix of colour.

Your Begonia is almost identical to some I bought in Tesco at the beginning of the Summer. Paid €3 each, one from last year too and they have been flowering non stop. Great plants. Hope your dad is doing ok :)

Your painitings have a real style of their own! I love when you post them on Facebook but its nice to see one here too! Don't worry about the garden - it will wait for you to have more time for it. Take care of your Dad - that is much more important right now.

Beautiful painting, Jacinta. I do hope the Christmas Fairs go well for you. The nicandra and begonia are welcome flowers at this time of year. Hope your Dad is coping with the disruption of having work done to his home.

Sorry Jacinta I didnt read the actual titles on the photos. Your painting is just gorgeous, very very realistic!

That's a beautiful painting Jacinta, you are so talented; I hope the Christmas fairs go well for you. The plants look good too! Your Dad must feel blessed to have you around to help look after him.

Thanks, everyone. The work on Dad's house still hasn't been started. Busy getting plumbers, builders reports. Then the assessor. Nothing is happening very fast and it's taking its toll on Dad. He doesn't need this at 86yrs old.

That is dreadful of the insurance company to treat your Dad in such away. Any disruption to someone of his age can be very upsetting.

Oh my goodness!! What's happened? The poor man. Waiting to have work done is stressful enough but when you are elderly time is of the essence. Especially with the Winter just around the corner. I do hope it gets sorted very soon

Jackie, Dad's whole downstairs floor needs to be replaced.

Jackie Jackie 10 October 2017 15:01:41

Oh no that's awful. Poor man. That's traumatic for anyone but at his age it must be dreadful. Hopefully he will get it sorted out soon ;)
