€1 new growth

€1 new growth

This is the new growth on one of the €1 Clematis I picked up a couple of months ago. All these Clematis are putting on fantastic new growth, some have flower buds already.

What is the best kind of feed to use on these plants?

I will be treating mine to a couple of handfuls of Growmore. Watch out in Aldi and Lidl for these in the next couple of weeks dirt cheap.

Brilliant seeing all the new growth on clematis after all the bad weather. Used miracle grow on mine last year.

Clematis starting to show buds far too early this year... I am afraid that cold nights will destroy them...

As Milliemouse said; nature is wonderful... and unpredictable...  :-)

Looks great Fran...

Violeta the cold winters do no harm to clematis - they are 100% hardy.  Some of the winter evergreen ones can be damaged by frost.

Fran, regular feeding with a fertilser which has a high potash content is the way to go, especially when growing in pots and don't forget to water!  You should shade the roots with stones or a small slab.  I wonder which clematis that is.

Sallysarah, it is Clematis Westerplatte, It was one of the ones I got in B&Q for €1, it turned out that there were two plants in the pot and a small trellis for €25.70, so really pleased with them.

And I still have to separate the one you gave me. Will do that today for you. Looking good too. :)
