Nearly there..........

18 February 2010 20:17:52

Today was spent in the wilderness, I am going to call this area something else soon, because with a few hours tomorrow, all the really heavy clearing will be finished.

The amount of grass that is coming up as I rake is unreal, think this down to the length it was as it died down. Though work but worth the effort, if only the weeds came up as easy. Will have to reseed the grass in time. A war is about to brake out against the brambles, they are everywhere, but at least they can be seen and dealt with as the show themselves.

I also found a Weigela that has gotten so big the branches were in contact with the ground. They have self rooted and beginning to sprout along the lengths. So if anyone wants a Weigela (think it's pink), let me know.

Took some time out for Aldi, picked up a cold frame, seed propagators, and a small Tamarisk for €1.29, happy with that.

Also spent some time in front garden planting things I had split and plants that were passed on from friends here. As I was planting them, I was thinking how great this method of passing plants on really is. Planted up some pots at the front door to finish off the day.

Would love to take a Weigela Fran but unfortunatly I'm too far away. I'm sure you will find a good home for them.

I did the Aldi thing today too. Got a cold frame, propagaters, plant pots and matting for going under plant pots.Great bargins next week on summer bulbs

You're really making progress Fran. I don't envy you making war on brambles, I have them here and there round the edge of the back garden and usually all I can do is cut them.

Light at the end of the .....wilderness!  Now, the real gardening can begin.

I hate brambles too. They bring on my blow torch fantasies.

Love the tulips. Were they for Maria for your Anniversary. New camera gives a crystal clear picture. Well done. Didnt see anything wrong with your old one though.

Tulips are her favorite. Was looking for a camera with a better zoom and a few other thing, could not keep the other one in batteries. Aoife is happy, she put her name on it, will be grand for what she will use it for.
