Yew Replanted

Yew Replanted

After lunch lifted out another plastic terracotta planter and replanted the yew that had fallen off the basement terrace there were some sprng bulbs planted around it in the pot but as it's now in a square planter put in a pot of glory of the snow in each corner but on these I removed the pot. Topped it off with grit as well and trimmed it a little to tidy it up it's now in the corner of the basement terrace so hopefully won't be caught by the wind again.

That fits in there very nicely and the walls should give it protection from the wind.

I share your feelings about the plastic pots but I find they have two advantages - firstly they are easier (lighter) to move about when planted and secondly they resist the frost much better. Even my frost-resistant pots have all been damaged this year.

How old is that Yew? I'm trying to get a feel for what is meant when they say "slow growing" :-)

I decided that it was a case of using these planters I may try to put other pots around them to blend in or else plant trailing plants that'll disguise them a bit. I do plan to buy more Bill and Ben type pots as I call them as they have so far survived the freezes of last two winters. The yew I think is here about 3 years and was bought in Lidl not that expensive so watch out for them think it cost about €15.

If you want to get rid of the 'plastic' look, could you roughen them up maybe with a bit of sandpaper? Good to see your Yew in its new home.

Fits in well in that corner.

Looking very well there.
