Tree Peony Pressie

Tree Peony Pressie

Today I was given two Tree Peony plants and am really looking forward to being able to plant them out once the weather improves. Tonight they're in the porch which is very cool in comparison to the house. As I never have grown these before any helpful tips on how to grow them will be much appreciated.

Roisin this little one wanted to go outddors for a walk round the garden path but it's so cold and icy here it just wasn't possible it's one of the walks that I'll do with the young kids in the good weather.

Best of luck with the planting.  I'd love to help out with some tips but I'm afraid I haven't a clue but I know that they have beautiful, blousy flowers and would just Luuuvvvvvvvvv to be able to grow them so I'll be watching this site in the summer for photos!!!

Gorgeous colours, Cloncaw. Lovely of the 2 young riders to think of their teacher at this time of year.

What a lovely present to get. They will always remind you of your students too. I have a couple of tree peonies in the garden albeit small. I believe they are fully hardy and require no particular treatment but maybe someone else has more specific advice.

Cloncaw, as Rachel said, no specific treatment required. They do very well in full sun, or partial shade. I gave one to Clara at the get-together, I had no room for it in my garden.

What great presents to receive.  I'd probabaly keel over and die if I saw these for sale in a garden centre near me.  All they seem to sell is blasted skimmia this time of year -- heaven forbid there'd be something out of the norm.  I love the way the buds look on the peonies -- promise of great things to come.
